PIERCING AFTERCARE
DO'S & DONT'S

DO thoroughly wash your hands before touching your new piercing.

DO clean your piercing with sterile saline twice a day, morning and night for the first 12 weeks.
Spray your piercing directly and allow the crusties to soften, (about 30 seconds).
Spray a q-tip with saline and GENTLY spin the q-tip AWAY from your piercing to remove any build up.
Be cautious to not get q-tip fibers caught on jewelry.
After 12 weeks, clean as needed.
DO make sure to check that your jewelry is secure while cleaning your piercing.
For threadless jewelry, press the pin and post together.
For threaded jewelry, make sure your balls are secure.
DO rinse your piercing with saline or alcohol-free mouthwashafter eating, drinking, or smoking (Oral piercings)
AVOID touching your new piercing to minimize irritation and exposure to germs.
DO NOT remove your jewelry as this will cause your piercing channel to close.
DO NOT change your jewelry until your piercing has healed.
Doing so can lead to improper healing, delayed healing, and damage to the piercing channel.
AVOID standing bodies of water such as bathtubs, hot tubs, swimming pools, lakes, and oceans for a minimum of 3 months.

DO NOT attempt to change out or remove your jewelry while your piercing is still healing. Doing so can lead to improper healing, delayed healing, and damage to the piercing channel.

DO NOT add chains, charms, or wear jewelry that is excessively heavy for the first 6 months of healing to minimize the risk of migration.

REMINDERS DURING
THE HEALING PROCESS

Your piercing will be sore to the touch until it has finished healing.
Healing bumps can be a normal part of the healing process.
You may soak your piercing with sterile saline for 15 minutes twice a day to help a healing bump dry out quicker.
“Crusties” (blood/plasma) are completely normal and a sign that your piercing is healing.

If you have any questions or concerns, please come see us. We are happy to take a look at your piercing and make sure everything is healing appropriately.

JEWELRY DOWNSIZING

Most piercings will require you to downsize your jewelry after the initial swelling has subsided.
Please do not downsize your jewelry sooner than 8 weeks after the initial piercing.

If you would like us to downsize your jewelry for you, please visit our Book Now page and schedule an appointment.
Tongue piercings must be downsized in the shop typically within 1 week to avoid complications.

WHAT IS THREADLESS JEWELRY & HOW TO USE IT
Your threadless stud is made up of two parts - the pin and the post.
The pin, also called the top, is the decorative part of the jewelry. The post is the back piece of the stud, which sits inside of the piercing channel.

Threadless studs are unique in that they are held together by tension rather than threads. As long as both pieces are threadless, you can use any pin with any post, giving you endless options to style your piercings.

How to set up your threadless jewelry (Brand new jewelry)
1. Insert pin halfway into your threadless post.
2. Bend pin slightly, about 45 degrees. If pin is already bent, move to step 3.
3. Push the pin into the post to check that the tension is tight enough that your top will not fall out.
4. To separate the pin from the post, simply grab both ends and pull apart.

How to install your threadless jewelry
1. Insert the taper into your piercing channel from the back of your ear.
2. Use the taper to guide the post through the piercing channel.
3. Once the disk of your post is flush with the back of your ear, remove the taper. The post should now be in your piercing channel.
4. While holding the post in place with your thumb, use your other hand to insert the pin into the post.
5. Push both ends together until the pin is flush with the post.
