Here is a quick look at some healing times. Keep in mind that “healed enough to downsize” is very different from “fully healed internally.”
We’ll guide you on when it’s safe to switch or downsize. Most piercings need several months before you can safely change the jewelry. Cartilage piercings often require a professional downsizing around 6-8 weeks to ensure proper healing. We’re happy to help you upgrade your look anytime, just make sure your piercing is ready. If you’re unsure, schedule a quick check-in.
Ear Piercings:
- Earlobes: 3-6 months
- Cartilage: 9-12 months
Facial Piercings:
- Nostril: 6-9 months
- Eyebrow/bridge: 6-9 months
- Oral piercings (lips, tongue): 4-6 months
Body Piercings:
- Navel: 9-12 months
- Nipples: 12+ months
Remember that no matter how long it's been or how healed your piercing is, you must always keep jewelry in the piercing channel. Failure to do so will cause your piercing to close.
Your safety and comfort are our top priorities. We pride ourselves on using hollow needles and implant grade titanium or solid 14K gold jewelry — the highest quality materials available for initial piercings. These metals are nickel-free, hypoallergenic, and chosen for their long-term comfort and durability. Every piece you see in our studio has been hand-selected for quality and beauty.
Eat a good meal no more than 2 hours prior to your appointment, drink water, and arrive well-rested.
Avoid alcohol, blood thinners, and excessive caffeine for 24 hours before your appointment and 48 hours after.
Wear comfortable clothing that makes the area easy to access.
Make sure you remember to bring proper ID as we will not be able to complete the service without it.
Most importantly, come excited! We’ll take care of the rest.
At Glimpse Piercing Boutique, you can get a maximum of 4 piercings per appointment.
While we'd love to help you achieve your desired look all at once, it's essential to consider the healing process. Getting too many piercings at one time can significantly lengthen the healing period and increase the risk of complications like migration, rejection, infection, and failed piercings.
We know it can be hard to be patient, but we promise your body will thank you! Our top priority is to help you make informed decisions, ensuring each piercing heals beautifully and lasts a lifetime. So, let's take it step by step for the best results and a comfortable experience!
For your safety, all initial piercings must be done with jewelry purchased directly from Glimpse. This ensures every piece meets our strict standards for quality, sterility, and proper sizing. Outside jewelry is not permitted for new piercings.
We are, however, happy to install client‑provided jewelry in healed piercings, as long as the piece is the correct size and appropriate for the placement. Our team will guide you to ensure the jewelry is suitable and safe for the piercing you wish to wear it in. We reserve the right to turn down any jewelry that is not suitable for body piercings.
